Life

Life is like a lump of clay

Shaped and sculpted

by two artists’ hands

That lump of clay

is now a magnificent work of art

suddenly a tragedy befall the artists

the piece fall

to the cold hard pavement

the artists put it back together

but nothing will heal the scars of time

and the scar of the hands that made

the work of art

Journey of Snow

Snow

cold, hard, frostbitten snow

It’s call heard by every living soul

The snow hearken to the kin of angels

one whose gentle movements is like a autumn leaf

diving and twisting as it falls to earth

in the dark vestiges of your mind

you ponder what the frozen heavens have in store for you

the real journey begins as you ascend

to mountain-less peaks before you

and all ties are broken to the earthly cares

and duties of everyday life

As the frozen wind caresses you

like a hand of God

you are free to do

as you please.

The Gift of a Pencil

The tool of the ages

Mightier than the sword

a pencil lurks inside a box

on the corner of your desk

waiting until you decide to write

about the wonders of the world

and all you have to write is

The Void

Black

Horrible, Seething Black

My ever present color

Haunts me in daylight

Mocks me in the light of the waning moon

The struggle is all from me

I am being pulled like taffy

in a happy child’s mouth

But there is a faint light

A remnant of hope

Yet still I must fight

to heap my sanity

my life and my family

And all the while I retreat

to the safe darkness

of my own mind

I wrap myself in it

and try to think of better things

But there is nothing else

There is only the vast empty darkness

That I must Face And endure

to find the Bright shining side

Of life

Night of The Maelstrom

The war between the storms reaches an all time high

Hail falls, sleet blows like shells and mortars

From heavenly arsenals

Thunder crashes

Lightning scares away all who opposes thee

Rain falls like infantry on a tireless advance

Snow, like soldiers in white

Parachuting from the heavens above

The armies in the sky march and retreat

Fight and fail

All the while you are inside watching

As you sit there, wonder why

You realize that everything has a purpose

You see, as the clouds wage war they

Soak and nourish the ground

And help the coming of spring

With flowers of peace and serenity

The Soulforge

Crimson Metal Illuminates the room

as the malus strikes and sharpens

The hissing of the hot swords

as they hit the icy cold water

is like one of the cobra before it strikes

These are swords of battle

Swords of the Chaos wars

the men grunt and heave

and the souls of fallen warriors

are poured screaming into the vat

of molten steel

as the Soulforge claims it’s title

Fly

Glide

Wonder

feel the excitement of flying

Crash

Pain

Recovery

Taste your blood sweat and tears as you fall

Look

 stand

 start

Hear the crowd roar as you land

Skiing

Time

As the mountain holds stead fast

Against the wind and the stream of   pestilence

It is shaped also by the rain and weather
Of eternal sorrow

 After Time slips

through the Hour glass of the ages

The Mountain is but a stone

Like a child is now a man

and a man is reborn

The Falcons Journey

The Falcon soars through the sky

as the leaves gently flutters from there trees

The falcon glides on the bitter sea air

Like the world turning in spaces hands

As the Falcon lands

 the world begins

with new found energy

and new found unity

The great struggle of life

becomes not one of a burden

But one of treasure

Drumstick

On the table lies a mystery

you wonder

is it food

can it play music

because on that table

lies an unforeseen trick

,A problem fathoms deep

Because on that table

awaits you a drumstick

a drumstick ...

of a chicken

3 People to be thankful for  - prewriting

Stephen Prue

  • Made my family whole and not just me and my mom or me and my dad.
  • Taught me valuable life long lessons.
  • Got our family to Washington.
  • Provided me with a more stable father–figure.
  • Made my mother and me closer together.

 My mother

·        Brought me into this world

·        Took care and provided for me

·        Taught me all the family and moral values that I have today.

·        My mother will always love me and never abandon me.

·        Will always give me an uplifting feeling when I get to see her face when life brings me down.

Timothy Peak

  • Taught me valuable lessons.
  • Provided me with a father for many years.
  • Let me go to Washington.
  • Taught me many skills (ex. Physical lessons not moral) that I use today
  • Timothy also taught me the virtue of patients.

9/11 Essay by Jeff

9/11 Essay

“ The world has changed today. Nothing will ever be the same”, said the New York businessman, Barry Novick. I believe that he was justified in saying that. Because, many things have changed since that fateful day. The largest changes I think, have been spending, and family life.

Spending has been an astronomical problem in today’s’ rapidly fluctuating economy. The common family is spending a lot less money since the collapse of the Twin Towers. Decreased spending causes the symbol of our economy, the stock market, to make haste, in its already downward spiral. Also, the decreased spending make companies lay off workers. Which in turn make things more expensive for the common family.

Family life has changed far more than some people  notice. For instance, my family has become much closer since September 11th. Many families have banded together in this time of need. Family feuds that have lied dormant, have reawaken and surfaced, causing a disturbing sight in what was a calm exterior of our civilization. So, in general, all fronts have radically changed since the attack that we call an assault on freedom.

Persuasive Essay - 2003

Imagine yourself trapped in a sea of stampeding students. The bell has just rung and you can’t make it to your classroom on time and you are given a detention for something that you can’t control. Imagine that you are caught between people and you are trying to get to the bus and you miss the bus because of the horrible overcrowding of schools.

That is what the school system might turn out to be if the school board allows this overcrowding of schools go on by not having the imitative to have another middle high and elementary schools built. There are many good reasons that we should build new schools. The 1st reason is to help alleviate tension put on teacher by having to deal with such a large classroom size; my class is 24 kids and 1 teacher. The 2nd reason is that the lockers and facilities are so crowed you have to wait an hour just to go to the bathroom or to get ready for the up coming class. The Last reason for the new schools is that the children want to have enough space in the class to do things like write or draw without another bumping into them or breathing down there necks.

There is a lot of pressure on today’s teachers with having a large group of boisterous teenagers or juveniles in their jurisdiction. There is a certain noise level in a normal classroom but when you have 30 or 40 kids there sounds like a rodeo or the circus or both put together. Some of the teachers cant take care of that many people, for an example my 4th grade teacher. Also the noise level keeps some kids from keeping focused. Lastly the size or intimidation factor of a group might change a teachers mind and they might be going to a different school.

2nd of all, facilities of the schools are an important feature whether it is the bathroom or the lockers. In some of the old school there in vandalism and damage done to these things, so they don’t work so kids might have to go without a locker or 1 bathroom for a few days until they fix. Or it might be beyond repair. A new school has new equipment and new facilities. Also There is new computers so that the students and teachers are able to access technology easier.

Lastly right now the classrooms are too crowded, not just for the teacher, but for the students. For example, say you wanted to get to the other side of the room to sharpen your pencil. You would have to jump and crawl your way over the other students and their possessions so you can complete a simple task. The students have barley enough room to write let alone draw or other activities. Also extra curricular activities are very crowded, sometimes with classes over 50 students at 1 time.

In conclusion I believe that the action of adding the extra schools will help the teacher the students and the other staff by; Helping alleviate stress put on teachers, provide better facilities, and allow the class room to be a more friendlier place. Adding the new schools will be an asset to our and future generation of students become mature adults

Science – Period 1

Science Biography

In my lifetime I have had many experiences with science and experiments.   My first experiment was learning to crawl and walk.   After much trial and error, I first started to crawl when I was 6 months old.  When I was first trying to crawl, I fell and broke my arm.  At 11 months old I started to walk.  As with all experiment, there was a large margin of error.  But, I kept trying to, and finally walk. That was the first experiment I ever accomplished.

Another experiment was learning to write with my right hand.  In preschool, we were studying the alphabet and we had to write the letters.  So, I had to learn to write.  My mother was the one that taught me how to write.  I struggled with my b’s and d’s and which way my j’s faced.  But with time I learned to write with my right hand.

I have just recently broken my right collarbone.  The worst part about it is that I am right handed.  So know I have to learn to do every thing with my left hand.  Such as typing this paper to writing, to even trying to feed myself.  I have to experiment to find the right way to put on my clothes without pain.  It’s a work in progress, but its all I can do for now.

When I was 10 I had the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument.  I chose to learn about the saxophone.  At first there was just random sounds, but now I am able to play complex pieces of music.  Instead of squeaks, I can now produce clear precise sounds.

Learning to read was a very challenging experiment.  My mom taught me how to form the letters into words.  Then I formed the words into sentences and then sentences into pages.  The first book I read was called, One Elf, Only One.  I started reading when I was 4 and a half, and have never stopped since.

Just about everything in life can be considered an experiment, from taking your first breath to taking your first step.  I only named five of the millions I have done.

Uninvited Guest

His heart was pounding. He was sure he had seen the door knob turn. Dave slowly crept down the somewhat ancient wooden steps. At the base of the stairs was a small door which was not big enough to fit him. He found himself thinking of turning back.  He thought of turning back every day since his fateful accident when all of the alcohol stolen from his house and one empty can left outside the minuscule door. “This time it will be different now,” he muttered to himself, “I will go through with this.”

The eerie creaking sound  that the stairs made reminded him of the fear and terror he was facing. What is behind that door? Maybe it is evil space aliens that needed alcohol for their death ray. It could be a band of gypsies that steal alcohol and pawn it off when the world was robbed blind of this precious possession. He didn’t know but Dave Warberspootymanjensonohimershmight the III is about to find out.

He slowly turned the handle, cracking the door ajar. His heart was pounding like a horse running in the Kentucky Derby. His bravery flashed in his heart like lightning. He flung open the small door. To Dave’s surprise he found something very disturbing; thousands of drunken Irish leprechauns, singing songs in a gruff off-tone voice. So, if you have a small door in your basement, open it because it might be gold and riches or drunken Irish midgets.

Snow

I think snow is the best part of winter. It signifies the beginning of the winter, the best season.

Snow makes Christmas complete because without it we would be dreaming of a cold, dead, brown Christmas instead of a white one.

The sensation of the frozen crystals against your cheeks as you accidentally tumble down a flight of outside stairs when you trip over a small white dog that you didn’t know was there because you had horrible depth perception is one of the best feelings ever.

Snow is the best part of winter in my opinion but of course my opinion is the only one that matters.

War of 1812

June 18, 1812

A day that would be remembered in history

War had been declared

Americans charged, British advanced

Muskets ringing, Cannons blaring

Rapiers shining, Swords glittering

A scream of pain pierces the ears of the men

Their comrade had fallen,

As his soul departs this world

A cry of grief and a cry of war,

Pass through the lips of the battalion

The first shot has been fired

The war had begun.
